With so many products flooding the market for mens hair styling, it can often be overwhelming to find the right products for you. With our guide, we hope to make this an easier process for you! Pomades have become the forefront of mens hair products, and for great reason. There are many varieties! The first step in choosing a pomade is determining if you prefer water based or oil based. Water based pomades are perfect for most people, they allow you to restyle your hair throughout the day with a little water, or depending on the hold, by running your hands through your hair. Oil based pomades are for people who like a very, very firm product. Oil based pomades also have much more shine than most water based pomades.
Holds: There are many different holds of pomade you can get, from light to extreme hold. Light hold pomades work well for styles that are intentionally messy, yet manageable such as textured fringe styles. Medium hold pomades are typically the best all around, as they are very flexible. You can always use less product or more to achieve the desired result with medium holds. Whereas a pomade with a light hold would take much, much more product to achieve the same result. Firm holds are not typically used for most styles, unless a person has a tough cowlick or growth pattern. Some styles, such as the classic flat top may require a firm hold.
Here at Kraft Manor Barbershop, we are proud to be dealers for Suavecito and Reuzal! Suavecito’s OG hold pomade is by far my favorite pomade on the market. It is the most versatile, I have used this pomade on my clients for years. Reuzal also has a great line of pomades for more light, messy styles! Both of these companies make pomades that function great and smell amazing.
